Women's Refuge is the key national organisation working to end domestic violence

towards women and children.

 

Women's Refuge has an ongoing fundraising and awareness programme through two annual campaigns in July and December. Money raised is used to provide support services for women and children in Refuges and communities throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.

Saatchi & Saatchi have given us huge support by donating their creative talent to develop our national campaigns since 2001. For the past two years the campaigns have focused on ‘Turning the Story Around'. To see past annual appeal campaigns go here.

Women's Refuge has turned the story around for thousands of women and children since the first safe house opened in Christchurch in 1973.

You can make a difference to the lives of women and children by selecting one of the following options to make a donation.

  

Or you may like to organise your own fundraising event

You can organise your own fundraising event with family and friends or in your community. It can be great fun and is an excellent way to raise money for Women's Refuge. Some fun ideas for an event are:

  • Summer is on the way - you might like to have a barbeque
  • A progressive dinner - organise it between friends, each friend provides a course at their own house & the participants move around (by taxi if you are drinking) to enjoy a meal
  • Empty out your clutter, take it to a car boot sale and donate the proceeds to Women's Refuge
  • Enter an event like a fun run or walk or a marathon, get sponsors and donate the money to Women's Refuge

Women's Refuge has signed up with Fundraise Online. This is an easy way for our supporters to raise money and for friends, family or other supporters to sponsor and encourage them.

Anyone can register an ‘event' and receive donations from around New Zealand and even from overseas.

There is an online step by step guide on how to set up your own webpage on the website and every donation made on your webpage will be paid directly to Women's Refuge.

Donations made from New Zealand are tax deductible and receipts are issued directly to you from Fundraise Online.

You don't have to be a sportsperson to raise money this way, you could set up a webpage for each of the ideas we have mentioned above or perhaps you might like to ask people to donate to Women's Refuge instead of buying Christmas or birthday presents for you. The ideas are endless.

Have fun, promote Women's Refuge and your message worldwide, collect donations and thank your supporters all from your own computer!
